A threaded component rarely consists of a thread alone. It may also need a hex or pair of flats for a tool, a shoulder that locates against another part, and an end opening or bore. Turning establishes the cylindrical geometry and thread. Suitable live tooling may add wrenching or cross features in the mill-turn route, while access and inspection determine whether additional operations are needed.
01
A thread has a mating job
External and internal threads are specified by designation, engagement length and fit. An adjacent shoulder or face can serve a different locating or sealing function; it should not be treated as an automatic consequence of the thread callout.
02
Wrenching features need orientation
A hex, flat or slot gives a tool purchase on the part. Its size and position must work with nearby turned features, and the manufacturing route needs access to machine it without compromising the defined interface.
03
Inspection follows the agreed interface
The thread designation, mating face and shoulder define the inspection requirements. Our quality page shows the factory’s inspection equipment and calibration records. We review the specified checks together with material, geometry and quantity before quoting.
PHOTOGRAPHED GEOMETRY
Threaded bodies and wrenching geometry
The annotated photograph shows a turned connection part with visible external threads and wrenching geometry. Additional images show a housing and finished turned forms. These examples let you point to a similar thread-plus-body arrangement; the required designation, material and operating conditions still come from the project specification.
Parts photographed in our Dongguan factory show external threads, hex flats and cylindrical bodies. We manufacture custom components to an agreed drawing.
The published factory range establishes an overall starting boundary for custom work. Thread form, bore access, wall thickness and the relationship between a wrench feature and a mating face can make a specific design more demanding than its outside diameter suggests. We review those together.
If the same threaded part is required in repeated batches, four quantity breaks give purchasing a clearer comparison. A fixed setup spread across 2,000 pieces contributes 1/10 as much per part as at 200 pieces; the full unit price still depends on thread cycle time, material, inspection and finish.

Provide the drawing revision, thread designation and length, mating interface, material, quantity and any required gauge or acceptance record. Note whether a surface locates, seals or is simply visible. Use the RFQ checklist if the order has finishing or packaging conditions.

Can a turned thread and wrench flats be made on one component?
They can be planned as part of the same mill-turn component. Turning establishes the cylindrical body and thread; suitable live tooling can produce flats or other cross features. Actual setup count and tool access depend on the drawing and machine configuration.
What should be defined for a threaded interface?
The thread designation, engagement length and mating features belong in the specification. A sealing face or locating shoulder may need a separate requirement from the thread itself. We use those details to review the machining and inspection route.
Do you sell standard threaded fittings?
No. We manufacture custom components to an agreed drawing and production quantity. The photographed examples show cylindrical bodies, external threads and wrenching flats. Thread designation, material and the mating interface are reviewed for each order.
200,000 rings shipped every month since December 2025, on a 30-day supply cycle. Every shipped ring has passed 100% final inspection.
