Slender sections
Review unsupported length and the diameter changes before choosing the workholding.
Part example 02
Small pins and slender stepped parts, shown next to a ruler. At this size, shoulder position, threaded ends and handling all matter.
Review unsupported length and the diameter changes before choosing the workholding.
Identify the face that sets insertion depth and any radius allowance.
Specify thread designation and usable thread length.
For a slender component, the diameter-to-length relationship matters more than either dimension alone. Add assembly requirements so support and handling can be considered together.
Choose a measurement method suitable for the feature size. A ruler in the reference photograph gives context; it is not a dimensional inspection record.
See inspection evidenceWe turn parts from 0.5–200 mm (0.02–7.87 in) OD and up to 300 mm (11.81 in) long, starting at 200 pieces. Our main focus is 1–100 mm (0.04–3.94 in) OD parts in runs of 2,000 pieces or more.
